Laguna Parón

The Laguna Parón Tour is one of the most scenic and accessible day trips in the Cordillera Blanca. Located at 4,200 meters above sea level and surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks, Laguna Parón is the largest natural lagoon in the mountain range and one of the most photogenic spots in Peru.

Its dazzling turquoise waters reflect the majestic peaks of Artesonraju (6,025 m) — often recognized as the model for the Paramount Pictures logo — as well as Piramide de Garcilaso, Chacraraju, and Huandoy. The combination of mirror-like water, rugged mountains, and crystal-clear skies makes this destination a true highlight for nature lovers, photographers, and adventurers visiting Huaraz.

This one-day experience offers a perfect mix of relaxation and exploration, suitable for all travelers, including families and those acclimatizing before longer treks.

TIP:

  • Start early to avoid afternoon clouds and enjoy clear views of the lake and surrounding peaks.

  • Acclimatize properly, as the lake sits at 4,200 m / 13,780 ft.

  • Wear sturdy trekking shoes and bring a waterproof jacket, as weather can change quickly.

  • Carry enough water and snacks, especially for the uphill sections.

  • Bring a camera to capture the turquoise waters and snowy peaks.
