Itinerary
The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Huaraz to the small village of Llupa, located at the foothills of the Cordillera Blanca. From here, the trail starts with a gradual ascent through traditional farmland, native vegetation, and crystal-clear mountain streams.
As the trail continues upward, the path becomes steeper and more adventurous, with some sections requiring the use of fixed cables to safely climb over short rocky areas — a fun and exciting challenge for hikers. Throughout the ascent, the landscape opens up to reveal panoramic views of Huascarán, Vallunaraju, and surrounding peaks.
Upon reaching Laguna Churup, trekkers are greeted by an incredible sight: an emerald-blue lagoon reflecting the snow-covered Churup Mountain. It’s the perfect place to rest, take photos, and enjoy a peaceful moment surrounded by high-Andean nature.
After enjoying the views and the serenity of the area, hikers descend along the same trail, returning to the starting point before heading back to Huaraz. This short but spectacular trek is one of the must-do experiences for anyone visiting the Huascarán National Park.
